This review is very welcome, however the customer did not buy the recommended ABM handlebars so many of his problems may have been alleviated with those rather than the set fitted which may have been slightly more swept back etc, lack of English instructions totally my fault. Simon Bikermart - Even though the Falco's clip-ons are less extreme than others I decided I would prefer a more upright position so checked out the various offerings and decided to go with this ABM kit. Quality is excellent, as you would expect from a German product and fitted just fine. No fault of the product but beware various pitfalls along the fitting route. The ignition/steering lock switch has a tamper proof bolt to deal with. I managed to cut a slot in mine and screw it out with a screwdriver but it was touch and go. I am only using a modest rise handlebar but the wiring loom didn't have enough "give" as fitted and I needed to remove the fairing to gain access to the wiring behind the dash so I could unclip cable ties and re-route wiring. Otherwise there was too much strain on the cables and the microswitches fitted to both levers kept pulling out. You need to cut the fairing to allow clearance, the amount depending on the bars fitted. Even then I only just have enough clearance to the metal fairing supports. I made the main cuts to where I thought it would be OK only to find there was a slight interference somewhere. I then dealt with that only to find there was another problem elsewhere so it took quite some time to get it sorted.
I knew I would need longer brake and clutch hoses so included these in the kit and they were fine. In spite of comments elsewhere about the throttle cables being OK I couldn't use the standard ones. I tried rerouting behind the steering head instead of in front but whilst I then had enough length the top yoke fouled them against the tank so had to order a new, longer set adding another £50 to the cost. I have seen comments that the Mille and Tuono use a similar but longer, by some 2", set of cables but I opted to ask Venhill to make me longer Falco ones in spite of the slight extra delay in supply. Couldn't see how the supplied clutch and brake reservoir bits and pieces could be used, at least not without causing more problems of clearance with the fairing, so ended up making one new bracket and modifying the other. And be aware the instructions, such as they are, are in German! Overall I had to dismantle a large part of the bike to get things to work and it turned out to be a much bigger job than I was expecting. Hope it was all worth it (I think it will be) as I haven't had chance to test it out yet!
